Pair of monobloc square white marble basins. Early 19th century

Pair of monobloc square white marble basins, decorated with stylised vegetal motifs in relief. The thick, moulded upper rim overhangs a frieze rhythmically carved with leafy motifs of flowing, symmetrical lines inspired by the antique decorative repertoire.

The body, slightly flared, continues this vegetal vocabulary in a structured and balanced composition. The depth of the relief, combined with the geometric sobriety of the form, creates an elegant contrast between architectural rigour and ornamental decoration.

These basins belong to the Neoclassical tradition of the early 19th century, when ornament inspired by Antiquity was reinterpreted with refinement. The marble, softened by time, highlights the quality of the material and the finesse of the carving.

Suitable for both interior decorative use and sheltered outdoor settings, these pieces could serve as planters, ornamental basins or architectural decorative elements.
