White marble head of a man depicting Emperor Claudius, identifiable by his characteristic features: an elongated face, pronounced forehead, slightly downcast gaze, and short hair carved in regular strands, typical of 1st-century imperial iconography.

The sober and realistic modeling of the face reflects the Roman intent to faithfully render the ruler’s features, while preserving a degree of idealization inherited from the classical tradition. The uncarved pupils, subtly defined mouth, and strong bone structure give this head a presence that is both solemn and timeless.

Mounted on a base, this fragmentary sculpture retains strong evocative power. The visible marks of time on the marble surface enhance its authenticity and historical character.
